How to most efficiently get spray paint out of carpet?

I was stupid and tried to spray paint furniture over carpet, while I used a drop cloth the spray seemed to go everywhere! Please help! I live in an apartment so I would really not like to replace the carpet if I can help it. Thanks! How to most efficiently get spray paint out of carpet?
That's a tough one. I don't think you can get paint of any kind out of carpet, I know that the owners of our apartment re-painted it before we moved in, and there are little drips in places. But they were so small, I simply snipped them out with scissors. That might work if you only have little bits everywhere, and it's barely noticeable. For a widespread area, I would open all the windows and try paint thinner. Put it in a spray bottle you can throw out after, and spray the area. Then work it into the carpet, blot it up and see if that works. If it does, then rent a steamer and and clean the whole apartment afterwards. If it doesn't what does it hurt to try as you will more than likely have to replace it.How to most efficiently get spray paint out of carpet?
The good news is that most likely the paint is just on the surface of the carpet. If it were poured on the carpet and seeped into the sub fibers, you would have a much more difficult time removing it. What you need is a solvent that will clean up the dried paint but not one that will discolor the carpet. If the paint was latex you can use D Natured Alcohol. If it is alkyd or laquer based, you can try Goof Off or something similar. First try an out of the way area to make sure it doesn't discolor the carpet. Then, apply the solvent on a rag and wipe it onto the painted area. You may use a wire brush to lightly go over the area and break loose the paint but be careful not to pull up the carpet fibers. Between the wire brush, the solvent, and a rag to clean it up, you should get most or all of it. Good luck
you could try renting one of those carpet steam cleaners.

they use hot water and have a fast spinning brush.

the brush might scrape off the paint if you keep going back and forth with it. They do a very good job of cleaning a carpet.
