Is it possible to spray paint a metal fence?

I have a garden fence that needs re-painting. It is really fiddly and took ages last time. Just wondered if I can spray paint it?Is it possible to spray paint a metal fence?

You can spray paint it easily, buy Krylon paint for metal, if there is any rust on the fence sand it off first. you can buy cheap plastic to cover the grass if you do not want over spray on it or the ground or you can place newspapers on it. Make sure you chose a day when the wind is not blowing or it will cover you and your clothes.

You can spray paint it, but you'll need alot of spray cans. It's easier just to paint it with a gallon of paint.
Absolutely, however, the time consuming part is still preparation.


1) dust off with a stiff brush or broom.


2) scrub with wire brush to remove loose paint and scale.


3) wet brush/wash stiff brush and maybe sugar soap, this will remove any fatty residue.


4) go for it with spray cans or an air gun.


Use a large sheet of plastic behind fence to reduce overspray
you could but with spray paint there is always over spray so it would be on the grass to at least until the grass grows out
