I was planning on spray painting a design onto a hoodie of mine, and I don't want it to fade off quickly. Would regular spray paint stay for awhile? How well does spray paint stay on clothes?
if you put on a good layer and get the vinal paint you should be goodHow well does spray paint stay on clothes?
Instead of spray paint, which is not formulated for fabric, use regular fabric paint. It is available in any craft store. It comes in many different colors(including the ones you want to use), and forms. Just to list a few; glitter, shiny, puff and regular. You can also get different size tips to attach to the bottles to form different thickness of lines. You can also get special brushes that are used on fabrics.
It's best to use a special fabric spray paint like Simply Spray.
Here is their link, but it takes a LONG time to open:

You can buy Simply Spray at Michael's and at Hobby Lobby and probably other craft stores carry it, too.
You can order it online, too, and they do have metallic colors. Check out the projects section on their link. Several people have spray-painted their hoodies and submitted the pix.
I've used it and it works great!
You can spray paint on fabric, but it will be stiff.
Also, tape large pieces of newspaper around the area you DON'T want painted, spray paint mists and settles everywhere you don't want it.
You can cut a stencil for lettering and make a couple light mists so it doesn't bleed under the stencil.
And look around the whole spray paint section, they have metallics in all jewel tones now.
