Is it better to spray paint a dresser or hand paint it?

We got a few hand me down furniture, but we want to change the colors. I know spray paint will be easier, but will it be better to paint it with a brush? We dont plan on having these items for a long period, just untill we save for new ones, so life time quality is not an issue. These items are not of a solid wood or any other good quality material that would be ruined by repainting, so this is not an issue either. Is it better to spray paint a dresser or hand paint it?
If you had asked me 5 years ago, I would have said hand paint it. However, nowadays there are so many different kinds and colors of spray paints out there. You can really get some neat effects (and even coats). Just make sure you take your time, and let it dry completely between each coat.Is it better to spray paint a dresser or hand paint it?
Hand painting always seems to look better, smoother and more even. Spray painting seems to run a lot when I try it. I always have to get a brush to touch it up anyway.
Spray paint it.
I would hand paint them.

Spray paint is not really economical you get very little paint for what you pay for. You can go to home-dept or Lowes and get their miss mixed paint in fun colors for a steal. I

MHO it is easier to hand paint then to spray paint because you can do it in one coat while spray paint takes several coats to look good and not run.
Spray paint would be the more economical if you are just using the furniture for a little time. Brushing the paint is time consuming and more labor intensive.
