I want to know the steps and whatnot to spray painting a black metal stand. I want to spray paint it yellow. I'm wondering if I'll have to use sandpaper or primer or whatever else that is needed. I want it to have a smooth and glossy finish. Also, how far do I have to hold the can so the paint won't run or look ugly. Thanks! =DHow do you spray paint a microphone stand so it will look nice?
If the stand is smooth feeling already be sure to sand it w/ a high number sand paper [180-220].from there you should use a primer to get a little closer to the color you want it to be.Going from black to yellow is a big change.I would suggest holding the spray can further than a foot more like 2 %26amp; a half feet only because you are new at it ,if it is on to thick it will look like crap %26amp; you will not get it to ever look right. so go very fast %26amp; far away until you get a better feel for it.You might think about rapping some masking tape around it in a ';spiral'; to get a cool effect.far and fast ..you'll be fine ROCK ONHow do you spray paint a microphone stand so it will look nice?
The can should be at a distance of about 30 cm (1ft) from the stand. Shake the can well before and during spraying. You will get the feel of the distance as you do the job. Be very careful not to over spray. Rather do more coats. You need to be very careful here as it is easy for the paint to run as spray paint is quite thin. Spray from one end to the other removing your finger from the trigger as you stop. When you do the next coat move up and down. To cover the black completely you will need several coats but again be careful not to over spray on any single coat. If it is really a mess you can wipe and recover later but this must only be done if it is essential as it is quite tricky to wipe it successfully off. Good luck.
As most are chrome plated if you want to paint one I would suggest thin coats of spray black enamel. Try automotive store.
