Can you spray paint an entire car using automotive spray paint?

I know you CAN but can you do so without having it turn out looking like crap? I currently have a dark green like a hunter green or forest green 94 Pontiac Grand AM SE and I want to paint it black. I'm thinking that since I want to paint it black you wont really be able to see too many spray marks anyway.Can you spray paint an entire car using automotive spray paint?

Chances are, no. Black will show all of the defects in the paint job. Unless you plan on sanding off all the clear coat down to the green. Plus, the temp of the body on the car must be at least 70 degrees, if not, you are running a very high risk of getting runs in the paint. The quality of spray can paint is poor, if you are looking for a good turn out you will want to have a regular body shop do it that is equipped with a spray booth.
If you buy 2 cases of spray pain all with the same color number, you will end up with about 5 different shades. Don't paint your car this way.
